Standards Based Grading Revisited: Discussing Strategies for Emphasizing the Learning Process in Math Class

Over ten years ago, the math team at SLA introduced Standards Based Grading as a tool for assessing students' skill development across all math classes. During this time, we have made multiple adjustments to our SBG system to best fit the needs of our students, and this year, we are introducing a new component to further emphasize student engagement in their learning process. This conversation will focus on the changes that we have made to our SBG model over the years, and will explore strategies to best support high school math students as they embrace an active role in their education.

Conversational Practice

We will work together to establish strategies that emphasize student reflective practices, specifically focusing on the learning process in math classes.
